At what age is it ok to take my 21 mth old son to a storytime session at the local library?

I've been told that kids this age go there and I was wondering if it was worthwhile. I know he can't read properly yet but just to be around other kids for a little while and he does like books. Has anyone taken there kids to a story time session?
