Should I plant shrubs in front of the house or leave it to a professional?

I just yanked some unhealthy looking shrubs from the front yard of the fixerupper that I just recentley bought. I had a tree company remove a Crayton Mirdle tree from by the chimney. I was wondering if it would be a good idea for me to install bushes/trees in front myself. Or, should I have a professional install them. I'm worried about roots potenially sapping the nutrients from the newly planted shrubs ext.
